Workshop is conducted by Ronin Racing team of NITW, which will completely focus on the technical of the electric vehicle from selecting your battery pack to fine tuning your motor along with MATLAB and ANSYS simulations for full proofing your design. The workshop will also touch upon the subject of formula vehicles and formula student competitions around the world. Workshop throws opportunity for all automobile enthusiasts to learn all about Designing and analysing the frame and simulating the dynamics of the vehicle to fine tune it.

Ronin racing is the first ever electric formula car team for NITW and looks forward to a legacy over the many years to come. Team focuses on building a class one electric formula one car for the specific competitions of Formula Bharat and Formula Student United Kingdom.

First team to bag a price in FSEV Concept Challenge in its very first attempt besides having tough competition from IIT Kharagpur, BITS Pilani, VIT Vellore and other reputed institutions.

Introduction of team and a short glance at the formula student competitions.

 Design:

        Introduction and importance of designing.

        Methods of designing- Solidworks, CATIA.

        Analysis of chassis- ANSYS, Solidworks.

 Steering:

        Types of steering system, geometry and mechanisms.

        Designing the steering system of the vehicle.

Suspension:

        Types of suspension system.

        Selection of suspension type and why?

        Designing the suspension system of the vehicle.

        Analysis of suspension in Lotus Shark software.

Braking:

        Types of braking system and Braking mechanism.

        Braking anatomy

        Advantages and Disadvantages of ABS

        Thermal analysis of brake discs.

Transmission:

        Gear ratio calculations

        Shaft calculations

        Tyre selections

Manufacturing Processes:

        CNC-CMM, BCL, DNC

        CAM and 3D printing

 

Session 2:

Powertrain:

        Types of Electric motors

        How to decide the motor specifications?

        Speed and Torque controlling methods

        Torque vectoring

        Prototype to show the torque vectoring and motor controlling.

 

Session 3:

Battery and BMS:

 

        Types of cells used in electric automation industry

        How to decide the battery pack specifications?

        Design of battery pack

        Battery Thermal management

        Battery charging and discharging

        Battery Management system (Over Voltage and Under Voltage detection, Temperature monitoring circuitry)

Role of software:

        MATLAB for lap simulation

        Steady state thermal analysis and Transient thermal time of Battery pack

 

Session 4:

Types of Sensors used in automobiles and their working

 Data Acquisition system

Safety and Shutdown system

LV and HV wiring harness
